Capilla Cruz Verde

La histórica capilla del siglo XVIII que se encuentra en la calle Herradores, es una pequeña edificación dedicada a la Cruz. Antiguamente, era el humilladero de la ciudad, en él descansaban los ajusticiados, los guanches que iban camino a la horca en la época de la Conquista. Dice la leyenda que, la iglesia fue construida tras un crimen ocurrido en ese lugar, muchos comentan que fue en ese sitio donde apareció degollado el hijo del Adelantado Alonso Luís Fernández de Lugo. Su nombre se debe al color inicial de la fachada. Esta ermita esta adosada a la mansión propiedad de los hermanos Fernández Quintana. En el 2012, la Capilla Cruz Verde tuvo que ser cerrada y blindada después de que unos jóvenes rompieran la puerta y dañaran sus instalaciones. Actualmente, esta reformada y es parte del atractivo histórico de La Laguna, dónde los turistas pueden visitar para conocer parte de nuestra herencia cultural.

The historical Chapel of the 18th century is located in street called "Calle Herradores", it's a small building dedicated to the main cross. In the past, it was the shrine of the city, in it rested the executed prisoners, the "Guanches" who were on their way to the gallows at the time of the conquest. A legend tells that the Church was built after a crime happened in that place, many say was in that place where the son of El Adelantado Alonso Luis Fernández de Lugo appeared as a spirit. Its name (the green chapel) is due to the initial colour of its front. The Chapel is attached to the mansion owned by the brothers Fernández Quintana. In 2012, Cruz Verde chapel had to be closed and reinforced after some youths broke the door and damaging its facilities. Currently, its renovated and is part of the historical attractions of La Laguna, where tourists can visit a part of our cultural heritage.
